Hugs and Panisses

26 Apr

Today, we would like to highlight a crucial element to any meal, and that is the side dish!  What would a burger be without fries?  Pasta without a salad?  Or, in our case,  a Steak au Poivre without Panisses?

Speaking of Panisses… what is it?

Panisses is a real French take on the fry!  They are made of chickpeas that are shaped into log-form and then fried or baked to crunchy perfection. They are a tasty compliment to any of our main dishes at Café Pierre—you’ll never look at an American French Fry the same way again!

Ingredient Highlight: Taleggio Cheese

23 Apr

Taleggio

A guest favorite here at Café Pierre is our deliciously smooth Taleggio Cheese! This Italian import has a thin crust and is aromatically strong, yet has a contrasting mild and distinctly fruity flavor to it.  It is a perfect addition to salads or served on bruschetta with tomatoes and spices.  It can also be melted down and used in various pastas such as risotto or polenta!

Perfect as an hors d’oeuvres or a quick bite to share with a friend, our Taleggio Cheese is a tangy and unique dish to try!

It’s All About the Zazou Atmosphere

17 Apr

The cuisine we offer at Zazou is not only high in flavor, but also aesthetically beautiful and appealing to the senses.  We believe that there should be a correlating balance between what we serve and where you are served, so this brings us to highlight our bright and sunny atmosphere here at Zazou!

Between our juicy color palette of yellows and oranges and the large windows that look out onto our picturesque little beach town of Redondo Beach, our restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy the Southern California sunshine and be taken away to the land of Tuscany, Italy with the order of any of our dishes.

Let us brighten your day here at Zazou

Where Does “Zazou” Come From?

3 Apr

Many of our guests wonder… what is a Zazou?  Good question, guests! “Zazous” were a subculture in France during World War II made up of young people expressing their individuality by wearing big or garish clothing and dancing wildly to swing jazz and bebop!

The Zazous were people just trying to have a good time and be themselves! Our restaurant is constantly filled with laughter, the clinking of wine glasses and aromatic, colorful dishes.  It is a place where our guests can enjoy themselves and the company of their friends and families—we think the Zazous would approve.
